April 9, 1935- March 18, 2021


Laura Jean Gant a beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away March 18, 2021 in Sparks, Nevada at the age of 85.

Laura is survived by her sister, Marilyn Kolender; and her son, William “Glen” Gant, her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Gant-Reed (Tony Reed); and her grandchildren; Brianne Gant-Williams, her husband, James Williams, and Glen Gant; her great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Ray; her sister, Judy; and her brother, Bud.

Laura was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 9, 1935 to Lawrence and Elverta Meyer. She was the eldest sister to Judy, Marilyn, and Bud. Laura moved west when she was young girl and grew up in Oregon and Southern California. On December 4, 1954, she married Ray Gant in Southern California and had two children, William “Glen” and Debbie. They raised their children in Southern California, Southern Oregon, and Northern Nevada and spent their retirement years in Fallon, Nevada to be close to their children and grandchildren and eventually relocated to Sky Peaks Independent Living in Reno, Nevada.  

Laura was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to musical performances, traveling, doing jigsaw puzzles, baking, and playing Bingo. She volunteered with the Oregon Breast Cancer Society, a thrift shop in Fallon, and the Sky Peaks Welcoming Committee.

A memorial will be scheduled later in the Spring for immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Veteran’s Guest House.
