October is Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in light of that there has been a special display presented by the Domestic Violence Intervention office at Millennium Park.

The clothesline project was created to bring awareness to the issues of domestic violence for women and men who have been affected, it is a means of expressing emotions by decorating a t-shirt. The intention of the display is to honor survivors and act as a memorial for victims. It is also intended to aid in the healing process for those who have been directly affected and those who have lost someone special to violence.

The City of Fallon is working with the Domestic Violence Intervention office in Fallon, to help educate the community and promote awareness. Everyone's voice can make a difference even if they have not been directly affected by domestic violence, but feel passionate about ending it. The shirts will be hung for display not only on the clothesline, but throughout Fallon in October for the entire community to see.

Please join our community, this month, in wearing or displaying purple to raise awareness about the importance of preventing domestic violence in our community.
