Book Review -- Travel Light, Move Fast by Alexandra Fuller

Book Review -- Travel Light, Move Fast by Alexandra Fuller
Travel Light, Move Fast by Alexandra Fuller
This moving memoir chronicles the last weeks of the life of Tim Fuller, the author’s father, in a Hungarian hospital. Tim Fuller is the acknowledged black sheep of his English family who moved to Africa to farm and raise a family. Recounted in this book are some of his words to live by. “In the unlikely event of money, buy two tickets to Paris” – “When in doubt, have a cigarette” – “Befriend the moon” –  “If you are it, you don't need to say it” – “If you're going to go to the dogs, go the whole way" -- "In times of excessive difficulty, cope excessively" – “If you stay in the middle of your suffering, you'll never find the edge of it”. It’s a story of dealing with grief but is also a snapshot into her parents life and marriage. And what a rollicking good life it had been, even with the mishaps and misery. Fuller is an amazing writer with deep insights into life and death and all places in between. Carol Lloyd is the Director of the Churchill County Library. She has been reading Alexandra Fuller since her first book in 2001-Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood.       Never miss a meeting or community event – keep an eye on the community calendar at https://www.thefallonpost.org/events/ If you like what we’re doing, please support our effort to provide local, independent news and contribute to The Fallon Post, your online news source for all things Fallon.
