A group of local volunteers hauled away an estimated 80 yards of trash from two illegal dump sites in the Churchill County desert last weekend, making multiple trips to the transfer station in under four hours.
Nearly two dozen volunteers with Desert Pigs, a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up public lands, worked together to fill five trailers and three truck beds—twice—removing debris that might have otherwise blown across the landscape.
The group, which organizes cleanup efforts nearly every weekend, will be back at it again this Sunday at 9 a.m. at Fox Peak. Volunteers are encouraged to join.
