Obituary -- Lloyd Dennis Vermillion

Obituary -- Lloyd Dennis Vermillion
Lloyd Dennis Vermillion

Lloyd Dennis Vermillion, 81, passed peacefully on November 27, 2024, surrounded by many loving family members. He was born June 29, 1943, at his grandparents’ farm in Sparks, Oklahoma to William Lloyd and Geraldine Vermillion.   At this time, his father was in the European Theater for World War II and within a year was killed in action in France.

In 1960, Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy where he served nine and a half years. He thoroughly enjoyed his Navy career working as an Aviation Metalsmith. Serving aboard multiple aircraft carriers, his career was spent on the West Coast, Whidbey Island, WA, Kodiak, AK, and several bases in California. He also did three tours in Vietnam, one in country, and two aboard aircraft carriers in the South China Sea.

After leaving the service, Dennis had several careers: car and heavy-duty equipment mechanic, as well as heavy-duty operator, aircraft maintenance contractor for the U.S. Navy, and owning/driving commercial trucks. His love of cars never waned, which made him an excellent auto mechanic. He was the pro-typical shade tree mechanic.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie, daughter Shari, son Brent (Danielle), son John (Britt), 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, sister Leisa (Art), and Uncle Troy Knoch. He is also survived by many other caring family members. In his retirement years, he especially enjoyed adventures with his grandsons Chase and Ryder.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a caring friend to all, and never met a stranger. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Dennis.

Memorial services will be held at The Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11 a.m., 2949 Austin Hwy, Fallon, NV 89406.
