Tenth Judicial District Court Tuesday, November 12 - Judge Robert Estes Presiding

William Garnet Bergman pleaded not guilty to four charges of the Category C Felony of Abuse, Neglect, or Endangerment of a Child with a Prior Conviction for Child Abuse. Each charge carries a potential penalty of 1-5 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $1,000. The court scheduled a jury trial for April 21-25, 2025.

Cory Beckett, in custody, pleaded guilty to Category E Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), which carries a potential penalty of 1-4 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. 

Deputy District Attorney Aaron Thomas told the court that the state would agree to a suspended sentence of 19-48 months in prison, with an additional condition that Beckett be placed in the Western Nevada Regional Drug Court program.

Churchill County Alternate Public Defender Wright Noel agreed to the state’s recommendation for probation and drug court and asked for Beckett to remain in custody until his first appearance in drug court.

Judge Estes sentenced Beckett to 18 months of probation on a suspended sentence of 19-48 months, placed him in drug court, and imposed standard fees and assessments. 

Maverick Woodward Richards’ Review Hearing was continued to January 7, 2025. Richards has had multiple court appearances and continuances related to a probation violation for failing to check in with Parole and Probation.
