Tuesday July 9th, the Fallon City Council convened to elect a new Mayor Pro Tem. In years past, Councilman Bob Erickson served as Mayor Ken Tedford’s second in the instance of his absence or an inability to execute his duties of office. Uniquely, Mayor Tedford also served as Mayor Pro Tem for Erickson during his elected term as Fallon’s mayor.
In June, Bob Erickson reached his term limit as city councilman, leaving the position of Pro Tem unfilled. Karla Kent was elected to fill the Ward 2 seat he left vacant. As a matter of course, the council sought to fill the Pro Tem position as soon as possible, to provide for continuous leadership in case of the Mayor's absence.
Nominated by Councilman James Richardson, Kelly Frost was elected by unanimous vote. Frost has served on the city council since 2014 and is a long time community member and retired educator.
Additionally, Karla Kent commended Chris Alexander, Fallon Police Department Captain, on the excellent work during the 4th of July Parade. Several local residents reached out to Kent to voice their appreciation of the police department for the handling of the event and in particular, the traffic flow.
