G U E S T E D I T O R I A L Bobby Kennedy

It was a friendly bar that night; there were lots of patrons. A big man with a big voice stood up and yelled, “Drinks for everyone, on me,” and after a pause, he said, “Except for the little Jewish guy down there at the end.”

They all drank to him, except the Jewish guy.  An hour later, with people coming and going, the big guy yelled again. It was the same thing: drinks were on him for everybody except the Jewish man on the other end of the bar.  Finally, the Jew went over to the generous, loud man and politely asked why not treat the Jew. The answer was, “You guys sank the Titanic.” The Jew said, “No, an iceberg sank the Titanic.” “Iceberg, Greenberg, Fienberg, you people are all the same anyway,” was the explanation.

Is this a good example of antisemitism?

Looks like we are going to have more and more ongoing Palestinian protesters/rioters, many of who don’t know which river or which sea. They hate America and love Hamas. They don’t think the LGBTQI (and whatever letters) people have a fair go of it in America. Those same people that Hamas throws off the top of tall buildings.

The history of the world and the ongoing – in enlightened modern American – hatred of Jews is such a puzzle to me. Another puzzle is that in twenty-first-century America, there is little or no accounting or punishment for civil rights violations against the race or religion of Jews.

I remember when President John Kennedy appointed his little brother Bobby as the Attorney General of the United States, explaining that he was absolutely the best qualified for the job no matter whose brother he was.

Not knowing much about his private life, I admired Jack Kennedy (it made me feel close), although I disagreed with and even feared some of his left-leaning policies. Looking back, I think the Kennedy Family was and is an all-American family with progressive ideals.

But Bobby Kennedy, this little busy guy with high ideas, goals, ambitions, and objectives, and a lot of power, was a little scary all by himself (not as scary as Kamala).

He took on J. Edgar Hoover, the All-American G-man, over Mafia issues and racial issues. His dedication and tireless efforts against formidable foes achieved the most important and effective federal legislation since Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. These were laws against what were really un-American discriminations that became actually punishable. These laws allowed and caused us to work on America’s imperfections, as Harris Faulkner’s father told her. And we’ve made great progress allowing everyone to enjoy the blessings of America.

If I am at one end of a football field, I can tell the skin color of a man at the other end.  If a white man is sitting across this table from me, unless I know, I could not tell if he is Jewish, by race, or religion.

Bobby Kennedy, with his human weaknesses, like all of us, is a hero of Black America and a hero for all of America. In his grave, spin or not, his dead body doesn’t care, but his spirit, from wherever, must be very disappointed about the anti-Israel persecution and civil rights violations that go mostly unpunished. Surely, he’s watching no one care.
