William Edward “Bill” Corkill was born June 9, 1935, in Fallon, Nevada to Laura Marke and Harry Corkill, Sr. He passed away at his ranch home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Bill grew up on his family’s farm, instilling in him a love for farming and raising good, quality livestock.

He received his early education in Fallon schools, graduating from Churchill County High School in 1952. He spent the next year in Dixie Valley cowboying. His mentor, Dan Childs, arranged for him to attend Cal Poly, in San Luis Obispo, California, where he spent two years participating on the college rodeo and livestock judging teams.

In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent two years serving in Germany.

Upon his return, he and his brothers purchased back their father’s original farm, plus the Cushman Ranch. In 1960, he married Mary “Bunny” Cushman, and they devoted the next 63 years to following their dreams – raising and supporting their family in their endeavors.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gaylan.

He is survived by his son Bruce (Mitzi) and daughter Mary Selking (Mitch). His grandchildren: Jade Corkill (Zoe), Bailey Kretschmer (Chance), Lauren Gilmore (Brett), and Jordan Selking. Great grandchildren: Colby, Kelton, and Clay Corkill; Lennon Layne and Quade Kretschmer, Finley Elaine Gilmore. Step-great grandchildren: Isabella and Braylen Braman, Addison Gilmore. Special angels: Kellie Jo Snow Gardner and Shellie Snow Oney.

He has requested that there be no public services.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
