In the latest update from the Churchill County High School's esports scene, two teams have triumphed in their qualifying rounds, earning coveted spots in the final tournament organized by PlayVS Esports. This major event brings together the top players from the entire Pacific Northwest region of the United States, showcasing the growing influence of esports in high school extracurricular activities.

Esports, a form of competitive video gaming, has gained substantial traction recently, with high schools recognizing its appeal and forming dedicated teams. Unlike traditional sports, esports teams compete in various video games, each requiring unique skills and strategies.

CCHS has not one but two qualifying teams for the upcoming tournament, each vying for a chance to secure up to $6,000 in scholarship money to be shared among team members. The stakes are high, and the competition fierce, as the Super Smash Brothers team currently claims the number 1 seed, making them a formidable force in the race for esports scholarships. Simultaneously, the Mario Kart 8 team holds the honorable position of the number 3 seed, showcasing their prowess in a different gaming arena.
