On Thursday, July 13, the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office held a free event at the Churchill County Library for local children to check out some of the equipment used while protecting the community.
Deputies Montgomery and Redmond visited with the crowd, sharing their favorite books and all the fun features of the rescue equipment on display, including the Search and Rescue boat, the side-by-side for offroad events, and patrol vehicles.
The Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department also had one of their fire trucks on display for kids to see up close.
Despite the rising temperatures, the library event enjoyed a good turnout. “I will never cease to be amazed by books. Seriously,” said Sheriff Hickox, encouraging kids to get into their reading, “Just think about it - thousands of people read the same book but in each one’s mind the characters look different, and the setting changes and we’re all reading the same thing but it’s so unique to each of us. That is insanely cool.”
