The Nevada State Board of Education is hosting its third workshop to discuss school start times. Previous meetings were held in Carson City and Las Vegas. This meeting will be on Saturday, April 15 from 9-11 a.m. at the Desert Pines High School library at 3800 E. Harris Ave. in Las Vegas.
Research has shown that school start times affect academic outcomes for high school students. Many considerations go into setting school start times, including transportation, educator availability, after-school sports, extracurricular activities, and family constraints.
This is the third workshop to gather information and public feedback on start times for high school students. Previous workshops were held in Carson City and Las Vegas.
The Nevada State Board of Education wants to hear from all interested parties and invites the public to take part in the workshop. Please join in person or submit a public comment to [email protected]. There are links to the meeting materials on the Nevada State Board of Education website.
