Regenerative Agriculture Workshop Coming to Fallon

Regenerative Agriculture Workshop Coming to Fallon

An exciting workshop learning about the basic principles of soil health and regenerative agriculture will be held in Fallon on September 30, at Rambling River Ranches. Hosted by the Carson River Coalition, Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Program, and the Rambling River Ranch in collaboration with the University of Nevada Extension, Carson Water Subconservancy District, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Local Conservations Districts, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, and the Western Cover Crops Council, along with local producers from the Lahontan Valley, the workshop will focus on how regenerative agriculture can improve farm and ranch sustainability and economics while improving and enhancing the water quality of local rivers and streams.

Local producers and soil health experts will provide insights and lead tours of fields under regenerative ag practices. There will be equipment demonstrations, soil demonstrations, and a soil pit. Participants will gain fundamental knowledge about how to integrate soil health and regenerative practices.

The workshop is part of the Herds and Harvest Program through the university that combines a series of workshops on different topics and provides educational business management and mentoring skill building to support Nevada agricultural producers. Any producer interested in meeting with a mentor to build a specific enterprise budget for their agricultural operations can contact Jamie Lee, Program Officer at 775-426-8299.

To sign up for the workshop go to www.regenerativeagriculture.eventbrite.com. The cost is $20 per person, check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the event.
