Rebecca Lynn Welch pled guilty to one count of Offer, Attempt, or Commission of an Unauthorized Act Relating to the Manufacturing or Compounding of Certain Controlled Substances, charged as a first offense. The charge is Category C Felony, punishable by 1-5 years in prison. According to CCPD Jacob Sommer, his client did sell or give prescription medications, including Oxycontin, to another individual within Churchill County. The court set sentencing for November 15 and admitted her provisionally to the Western Regional Drug Court program.
Kimberley Ann Sanchez pled guilty to a single count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a first or second offense Category E Felony punishable by 1-4 years in prison. According to CCPD Wright Noel, Sanchez did possess methamphetamine within Churchill County. The court set sentencing for November 15.
Mary Jane Baltazar pled guilty to a single count of Abuse, Neglect, or Endangerment of a Child not Causing Substantial Bodily or Mental Harm, a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail. According to CCPD Jacob Sommer, on June 8, Baltazar was operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .150 with a child in the auto. The court set sentencing for November 15.
Alisha Nicole Dodge pled guilty to a single count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a first or second offense Category E Felony punishable by 1-4 years in prison. According to ADA Chelsea Sanford, on February 18, at or near 1755 Auction Road, the Task Force executed a search warrant and discovered Dodge in possession of methamphetamine. Proceedings were suspended, and Dodge was placed on probation and admitted into the Western Regional Drug Court program.
Raymond Keith Williams pled guilty to Battery with a Deadly Weapon causing substantial Bodily Harm, a Category B Felony punishable by 2-15 years in prison. According to CCPD Jacob Sommer, on June 9, his client had an altercation with his mother, which resulted in Williams stabbing her in the back, after which she sustained an injury that required treatment. The court continued the matter to allow the defense and the state to negotiate whether or not Williams should be allowed to participate in a residential treatment program pending sentencing.
Marcos Aguilar Topete appeared for sentencing on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Category B Felony punishable by 1-6 years in prison. Topete apologized to the victim and told the court that he had never previously realized the extent of his alcohol problem. Topete received probation on a suspended sentence of 28-72 months in prison with the term to run concurrent with a separate case in Justice Court and received credit for 108 days served. He must also complete the Western Regional Drug Court program.
Isaiah Caban appeared for sentencing related to the August 21, 2021, high-speed chase that ensued that resulted in him losing control of his vehicle on US-50A at the Fernley roundabout. Caban was pursued by law enforcement as his car matched the description of a vehicle seen fleeing from an armed robbery in Hawthorne. At one point, Caban drove through Fallon and reached speeds of 129 mph. He was initially charged with multiple felonies, which included: ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and eluding arrest. As well as several misdemeanors, which included: reckless driving, passing on the right, driving left of center, duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving property damage, driving with a revoked license, and possession of paraphernalia. Caban currently also has a warrant from Arizona for armed robbery with a deadly weapon and a warrant from California for kidnapping. Caban was sentenced on a charge of Failure to Stop on the Signal of a Peace Officer, a Category B Felony punishable by 1-6 years in prison. Judge Stockard sentenced him to 28-72 months in prison. He received credit for 387 days of time served.
Celestina Renee Ortiz appeared on a sentencing violation for failing to meet her probation requirements. According to ADA Chelsea Sanford, Ortiz completed Drug Court 49 days before her recent arrest. Sanford stated that she recently pled guilty to Grand Larceny in Douglas County. She and other females walked out of a Wal-Mart store with $1842 in merchandise and left in a waiting vehicle. Sanford asked the court to revoke Ortiz’s probation and impose the underlying sentences. Judge Stockard granted Sanford’s request and revoked Ortiz’s probation. He sentenced her to 24-60 months in prison for Attempted Home Invasion and 19-48 months a Failure to Appear after Admission to Bail.
Robert Willis Hoyland, in custody, pled guilty to a single count of Prepare Advertise or Distribute Pornographic Material Involving a Minor, a Category B Felony with a potential penalty of 1-15 years in prison and registration as a sex offender with lifetime supervision. CCPD Sommer, defense counsel for Hoyland, stated that on August 13, 2021, his client sent a pornographic video involving a minor to another person online. Sommer noted that Hoyland did not create the video but did send it. Judge Stockard stated that the child in the video was described as approximately 6-8 years old. According to Stockard, the offense is probation eligible provided Hoyland submits to a psycho-sexual evaluation and is not deemed at high risk to re-offend. The court scheduled sentencing for November 15.
