Cynthia Sue Abercrombie, age 68, passed away Sunday, June 19th, 2022 following complications from surgery at Carson Tahoe Medical Center. She went peacefully, completely surrounded by loved ones straight into the welcoming arms of Jesus.
She was born on October 29, 1953 to Ronald and Alice Hade in Storm Lake, Iowa. Cindy is lovingly remembered by: her husband, William “Frosty” Abercrombie. Her daughter, Shauna Baze, her son-in-law Dwayne and their children Alicia and Nathan. Her son James Kehl and his daughter, Trinidy. Her step-son, Tony Abercrombie, his wife Evie, and their children Ashlyn and Alexa. Her step-daughter, Charity Salazar, her husband Chris and their children, Justin and Tyler. Her brothers and sisters-in-law: Fred & Bonnie Hade, Ed & Norma Hade, Dan & Holly Hade. Her nieces and nephew: Shelly Galicia, Brandt Hade, Jenny Jaeger, Courtney, and Caitlyn Hade. Her cousins: Roxy Miller, Teresa Dory, Tim, Steve & Scott Moritz, and Lori Sipple. As well as all of the rest of the family and her many friends.
Her Dad served proudly in the U.S. Air Force which took them all around the world. They lived in Iowa, Georgia, Texas, Madrid, Spain, Montana, Louisiana, and Nebraska. She called Nebraska home for 13 years before residing in Nevada for the last 38 years. Cindy was a hard-working Jack of all trades. She managed a video store, a truck stop, worked as a nurse’s aide, as an optometrist’s assistant, also at a chemical plant, and at CCHS. She also owned and operated Cindy’s Pooch Palace, a dog grooming business on Maine Street.
In 1995, Cindy graduated with honors from Orvis school of nursing at UNR with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was extremely intelligent, even as the oldest student in her class she always had straight “A’s”...and this was BEFORE Google! Cindy worked as a registered nurse in Yerington and Reno before taking the job at Banner Churchill Community Hospital. There is no way to count the number of lives she touched during her 23-year career in nursing, but one thing was sure… she was fiercely dedicated to providing the best patient care possible.
Cindy was compassionate and caring. God’s light shone brightly through her! Even more than crafts, coffee and cats; Cindy loved her family and knew the value of time spent with them. Holidays were filled with gifts, food, and usually ended with her whooping our butts at cards! She will be sorely missed but forever cherished in our hearts. We are grateful for the treasured memories that can never be taken away.
