Now that County Commissioner Greg Koenig has won his Republican primary challenge, beating Lyon County Commissioner Vida Keller, he goes on to the general election, appearing on the November ballot without a Democrat opponent. The formality means he is not officially elected until November.
The Nevada Secretary of State’s office has confirmed that Koenig will start his term in the State Assembly, serving District 38, in 2023. Once Koenig resigns his commission seat, the governor appoints a replacement.
Anyone interested in filling that commission seat must reside in District 3 and be a Republican.
Interested parties who fit those two requirements need to begin the online application process at www.gov.nv.gov/Home_Board by completing Steps 2 and 3. For questions or more information on the application process contact the Office of the Churchill County Clerk.
