It’s time for the annual “Please Don’t Make Me Attend Another Event” fundraiser to support the Churchill Entrepreneur Development Association’s Community Outreach and Membership Division, aka the CEDA Business Council. The Council, in partnership with the Churchill Arts Council, the City of Fallon, and the Fallon City Council are hosting this year’s event.
Come listen to the music of the Hackensaw Boys in a free concert at Oats Park on June 18. The Virginia-based string group started in 1999 and is known for its boisterous and spirited live shows.
Wild West Burgers and Twisted Branch will be on hand to provide food and beverages beginning at 6 p.m., with the concert starting at 7:30.
While you’re there be sure to say “yes” to the CEDA members selling raffle tickets to win your share of their many available prizes. The Greg Koenig for Assembly Committee has sponsored a $2,500 cash prize for the fundraiser. There’s a one-night stay at the Atlantis Resort up for grabs and a one-night stay at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe for those of you needing a getaway. Two tickets to Toby Keith’s July 16th performance at the Spark’s Nugget also top the prize list, along with many other great prizes.
If you can’t make it to the concert, raffle tickets are also available at the CEDA office located at 448 W. Williams Ave., Suite B.
The monies raised by the sale of the raffle tickets will allow the Business Council to fund its new scholarship program for the upcoming year.
The “Building Fallon’s Future - Churchill County Work-Based Learning Program” was created last year in partnership with the Churchill County School District and Oasis Academy. The Council’s development program gives students a chance to experience career opportunities in the local business community. Students enrolled in the program can earn school credit while working in a paid internship with a local business. Internships align with educational and career pathways offered by both schools and fifteen local businesses are currently participating in the program.
The students will now also be eligible to apply for the new $1,000 scholarship funded by the CEDA Business Council and your raffle ticket purchase generosity. The scholarship will assist students further their career aspirations by helping to fund enrollment in a trade school, certification, or degree program after graduation.
