School Board Approves Hires for Next year

The Churchill County School Board met this week in a workshop to continue their work of goal setting. The workshops are led primarily by Sharla Hales, legal counsel to the board.

Under the consent agenda, board members approved several new hires for the upcoming school year, including the licensed rehire list, and several administrator positions. Joe Wood will serve at the high school where he has taught Math, Drafting, and Design as Vice-Principal and Athletic Director, along with Reema Menesini who will serve as VP as well. At the Middle School, Deana Porretta and Brad Barton will serve as VPs with Robbie Wickware who was recently hired as Principal.

Kevin Lords, a former Principal at CCHS, who currently serves as the Director of Administrative Services and Operations, has resigned to take a position in Battle Mountain. Longtime Science teacher, Scott Wilson, is retiring.

There are currently seven open positions at the high school, two at the middle school, and 22 other positions throughout the district including five in the transportation department.

Upcoming board events include CCHS Scholarship Night on May 13, at 6 p.m., and the Adult Education Graduation Ceremony on May 26, at 7 p.m. CCHS graduation will be held this year on June 3, at 7 p.m.
