Churchill County High School Vice Principal Mike Hogan was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Lyon County School District Board of Trustees Tuesday night.
Hogan also served as principal at Lahontan Elementary School from 2006-15. He said during his interview he plans to retire at the end of this school year. His wife, Billie Jo, is principal at East Valley Elementary School in Fernley.
Hogan was approved for an Early Retirement Incentive from the Churchill County School District on February 9 due to health reasons during the School Board meeting. He currently serves at Churchill County High School as Vice-Principal.
Hogan began his career in 1987 as a physical education teacher, head football coach, and assistant basketball coach in Valier, Montana. After teaching and coaching in Three Forks, Montana, he moved to Fernley High School in 1999 to teach biology, earth science and was an assistant football and track coach. From 2002-05, he taught biology and PE at Silver Stage High School, where he was also head football coach, assistant baseball coach, and athletic director.
