There’s a great new exercise opportunity in town for those who have always wanted to try Pilates – Rise Pilates Studio opened last week at 95 Whitaker Lane and is offering several classes a day.
Owner Shannon Duncan started doing Pilates with her sister ten years ago after her last baby. “It hadn’t been a good time to get started until recently,” she said, referencing the pandemic and the ensuing economic results. “The opportunity came, and we decided to do it.”
Duncan grew up in Fallon and the opportunity to serve the community has been exciting for her. She has space in the studio to expand if demand continues to grow, and is currently offering daily hour-long classes at 6 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. “We’ll play around with the schedule as we figure out what classes will fill, and which will be empty,” she said.
Pilates students use a piece of equipment called a reformer that provides a full-body intense workout through stretching and strengthening the core. “You will flow from one movement to the next with options given throughout to modify or advance the exercise to your desired intensity level,” said Duncan.
Memberships are available for unlimited classes as well as private sessions along with the group classes, and the phone number to the studio is 775-217-5735. Classes can be booked online at risepilates.squarespace.com/.
