Obituary — Philip W. Pomeroy

Obituary — Philip W. Pomeroy
Phil Pomeroy

Philip W. Pomeroy passed away October 17th with his family at his bedside. Phil, as he was known, lived his life to the fullest from the day he was born. As he grew up on the Pomeroy Ranch in Fallon, he was involved in FFA, rodeo, skiing, snowmobiling, flying as well as many other things. He graduated from Churchill County High School in 1978 and later graduated from the University of Nevada with a degree in agriculture. It was at the university that he met Carla Pignetti, who became his wife in 1985. Together Phil and Carla had two children, George and Casey, and became an integral member of the Fallon community.

Phil took over the reins of the Pomeroy Ranch and he and Carla created a successful enterprise running several businesses. Phil’s passion was aviation, flying high across the country and the globe as a corporate pilot, and flying low back and forth over fields as an ag pilot. Phil had a huge heart; he loved animals and wildlife and he was always willing to help someone out, most often without being asked.

Phil is survived by his wife Carla, his son George and his wife Tania, his daughter Casey and her husband Eric, his sisters Elizabeth Johnson and Lizanne Huntsman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Phil was the son of George W. and MildredPomeroy and the brother of Roderick D. Johnson, who have preceded him in death. Phil was a true Fallon native and he will be sorely missed by his family and his community.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25th, 2021, at 11:00 in the morning at The Gardens Funeral Home located at 2949 Austin Highway in Fallon, Nevada. A potluck gathering will be held at the Gardens Funeral Home afterward.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to our local 4-H and FFA organizations.
