Richard (Dick) Zuver, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021, after a long illness. Dick was born March 26, 1938, and raised in the Bay area until he entered the Army on August 2, 1956, and served in the reserves until his Honorable Discharge on August 1, 1964.
While he was in the Army he became a Diesel Specialist. After his discharge, he continued to serve in the Civil Service at various Naval Bases in the Bay Area, until he was reassigned October 1979 to the Naval Air Station in Fallon Nevada. In September 1987 transfer to The Reno Research Center US Bureau Mines as a Staff Engineer.
He retired from the Reno Research Center in May 1994 and reentered the workforce a few days later as a Staff Engineer
for Churchill County Community Hospital (Banner Hospital). He worked there for 15 years until his full retirement in 2009.
Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years Ella C. Zuver, his son John Zuver and Grandson Jaden Zuver.
A memorial service in celebration of life for Dick will be on Sunday, August 1 at 11:30 AM. It will be held at Light of the
Valleys Lutheran Church, 8790 Red Rock Rd., Reno NV (next door to the Pizza Factory). For those who will be unable to
attend, the service will be live-streamed via the Church’s web site LightoftheValleys.org
A pizza party and celebration of life will be held after the service at the Church. If you are attending in person, please RSVP so we know how many pizzas to order.
