James F. Wilsey, SR. 79, died on November 22, 2019 in Klamath Falls, Oregon at the Sky Lakes Medical Center after a long illness, a consequence of his military service in the Vietnam War. He was born to Earl and Faye Wilsey in Utica, New York on July 11, 1940.
He graduated from Oriskany Central High School in 1958 and received his undergraduate degree from Utica College in 1965. Jim married Eleanor Carpenter in 1963 and had two children, James F. Wilsey, Jr. and Jennifer (Wilsey) Landahl.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1966 and served in Vietnam as a flight navigator officer. He retired as a disabled veteran in 1975.
Jim met Marilyn Gosnell in 1981 in Old Forge, New York. They married soon after in Lake Placid where they made a home together. After six years in the Adirondacks, they moved to Fallon, Nevada in search of sunshine and a broader horizon They eventually settled in Klamath Falls, Oregon where they lived until Marilyn’s declining health forced her to move into the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles for the last years of her life. She died August 9, 2020.
Jim is survived by his and Marilyn’s combined extended family; two daughters, four sons and their spouses and partners as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His brother Charles “Bud” Wilsey and wife Carolyn of Old Forge, NY, also survive Jim.
