Although there will still be mail in ballots left to count through the beginning of next week, the Churchill County Clerk has released the unofficial local results from the ballots counted on election night.

A total of 12,215 votes were cast, of 15,721 registered voters for a turnout of 77.7%, one of the highest turnouts in recent election cycles.

President Trump handily beat Joe Biden in Churchill County, receiving 8,916 votes to Biden’s 2,862. Congressman Mark Amodei received 8,930 votes against democrat challenger Patricia Ackerman who received 2,617 votes. Assemblywoman Robin Titus was not challenged but received 10,642 votes.

In the race for County Commissioner District 1, Justin Heath was not challenged by a democrat and garnered 10,742 votes. In District 3, republican Greg Koenig received 8,572 votes to democrat Kelli Kelly’s 3,311.

Judge Tom Stockard was unopposed and received 10,379 votes.

In the race for Board of School Trustees, the top three candidates were Kathryn Whitaker with 6,092, Gregg Malkovich with 6,020, and Tricia Strasdin with 5,937.

County Question 1, supporting the fire department funding was passed by voters with 7,394 yes votes to 4,510 no votes. The funding is specific to equipment which helps the fire department meet their certification with the Insurance Services Office, (ISO) effectively lowering homeowner premiums throughout the community. The Fallon/Churchill Fire Department is the only volunteer fire department in the country to maintain an ISO 1 rating.

Mail in ballots will continue to be counted until November 10th, and County Commissioners will Canvass the Vote at a special meeting on November 16th at 9 o’clock a.m.
