Positions -- Viviane's music reviews

Positions -- Viviane's music reviews

Ariana Grande returns with "Positions," another album for the masses.

I cannot help but  argue that Grande is the current generation’s Mariah Carey. Grande’s new album uses the same sounds that have worked for her previously. With a voice as beautiful and controlled as hers, it is hard not to stick to what is working.

The new album has songs not only with the same sounds as previous albums, but the same messages as well.

With songs that promote self-love and empowerment, Grande’s vocal range reaches into genres the likes of Gospel, R&B, and Pop.

The song that took most of my interest was her final track, "pov."

Not only does this song promote self-empowerment and respect, the sound is similar to that of her previous collaborations with Mac Miller. The song has energy, but a serene voice which counterbalances the intense bass and pop sound in order to make it fall less into the sub-genre of trap music.

Grande has another success on her hands with this album.
