Unfortunately, this new film is only available on Appletv. Whether you pay for the subscription of the film alone, it is worth every penny.
Another project created from the mind of Sophia Coppola; this film follows her same formula of unrealistic metaphorical dialogue that somehow always works.
The movie follows Rashida Jones as Laura and her busy day-to-day life with two young children and a husband drowning in work. As her homelife and career begins to take a toll on her relationship with her husband, her father Felix, played by Bill Murray, steps in to fight Laura’s battles with her.
This film is an ode to the many different relationships between fathers and daughters. The entire film has vague conflicts that all add-up to an overall climax of a parent and child relationship.
While Coppola has a far different style to her father within her filmmaking career, this film has fantastic illustrations of true love and familial relationships.
As someone who will vehemently tell you that Coppola's previous film, Lost in Translation, was not all everyone said it would be... this film really changed my opinion on Coppola and her artistic expression.
