Cody Falconer, UniveMaster’s of Science in Materials Science and Engineering, University of Wisconsin, Madison. CCHS class of 2013.

Churchill County High School graduate, Cody J. Falconer, has earned his Master’s of Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Cody graduated from CCHS with the class of 2013 before attending the University of Nevada, Reno, where he attained his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering in May of 2017. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded the 2016/2017 Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering Outstanding Senior Award.

He was awarded a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Research Fellowship to fund his attendance at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and earned his Master’s of Science in Materials Science and Engineering in June of 2020. His research is primarily sponsored by a United States Department of Energy University Program, Integrated Research project called NuSTEM (Nuclear Science, Technology, and Engineering for Molten Salt Reactors). He has authored/coauthored four scientific publications on various topics covering materials corrosion in molten salts to enhance the understanding of materials behavior in next generation nuclear reactors. In 2018 he won the American Nuclear Society Nuclear Fuels and Structural Materials poster competition.

Cody will continue his education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and expects to attain his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in the winter of 2021/22. After that, he hopes to work at a National Laboratory in the United States to continue researching materials challenges in next generation nuclear reactors.
