Bill and Ted, the two surfer dudes from 1989 that brought Socrates to their history presentation, have aged and had kids. But there’s one problem... they have yet to make the song that saves the world.
Luckily this film answers the question of what a world saving rock song sounds like.
Not only do we get to see Bill and Ted again, but we now get meet their kids Billie and Theadora. This film gives a nice nod to the original film and its 90s sequel, but adds a modern twist.
Musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Louie Armstrong, Dave Grohl – and for some reason – Kid Cudi, make an appearance. Regardless of the star-studded cast of lookalikes and current rap stars, this film doesn’t carry quite as tubular of a punch as the original.
The film seems to strive for the same rock and roll vibe as the original, but forgets that Keanu Reeves and his costar are 30 years older. While the film does have the young faces of Billie and Theadora to focus on, it does not create the same chemistry we saw years before.
This film is a nice nod to the years before and the great qualities of rock and roll, but doesn’t knock my socks off in any way, dude.
