Obituary -- Dorothea Ratzlaff

Dorothea Jean Cress Ratzlaff passed away peacefully Monday, June 15, 2020 in Carson City. She was born May 11, 1927 in Monrovia, CA and moved to Fallon, Nevada as a young girl. She spent most of her life in Fallon where she was an active community member.

She was a long time Churchill County School District employee, worked at Churchill County Telephone Company, and Andrew Dodge Construction. She also worked at the University Experiment Farm in high school. She played the cello, led a 4-H sewing club for her daughter and friends, and was a successful member of the Churchill County School Board. She was a member of Parkside Bible Fellowship where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and many other things. She moved to Carson City in April of this year.

She is survived by an older brother Charlie (Mary Lou) Cress in Elko Nevada, her daughter Patti (Mike), of Carson City, granddaughters Shelby (Matt) and Chelsea Ward of Reno Nevada, grandkids Jeanne, and Michael Anderson of Carson City, granddaughters Kari Gonzales (Amber) of Fallon, Brynn Lovato (Lynn) Drake & Myles, Brad (Laura) Martin,  Aiden, and Martie (Tim) Wallace, Cameron & Hannah Chotiner, and numerous great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Ratzlaff, son Tony Martin, her sister Delma Emery, and her parents.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkside Bible Fellowship, with burial after, at the Fallon Cemetery. Masks will be required for health and safety.

Arrangements are under the care of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway in Fallon, Nevada 89406. 775-423-8928.
