Katie Dunkin was selected for the LEAD Forward Scholarship

FALLON, Nevada – LEAD On, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of Churchill County youth, awards two scholarships to graduating seniors.

“Our team wants Churchill County youth to know and believe they can do and become anything,” said Board Member and Scholarship Chair Paolo Narag. “We are thrilled to offer two scholarships to students with experience and values of leadership, service and education.”

Emily Richards was selected for the LEAD On Scholarship. She served as Oasis Academy’s Student Body President and Girls Varsity Lacrosse Defensive Captain. With the goal of being a sports broadcaster, Emily plans to study journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, in the Fall.

I would like to thank my parents and family for loving and supporting me through this journey,” said Emily. “I would also like to thank the Oasis Academy and Western Nevada College staff for helping me be the best I can be.”

Kate Dunkin was selected for the LEAD Forward Scholarship. She attended Oasis Academy and was a leader in Student Council and We the People. Kate was recruited to play lacrosse at New England College in New Hampshire where she plans to study journalism.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout the years,” said Kate.  “Especially my loving family, dedicated teachers, and committed coaches for always supporting me and pushing me to succeed.”
