Dr. Gary Ridenour appeared in Justice Court before Judge Ben Trotter Thursday morning via closed circuit live video.
Represented by local attorney James Sloan, Esq., Ridenour is facing three charges stemming from incidents occurring 2019 at his medical office that was located at 625 W. Williams Avenue in Fallon.
Count #1 is considered a crime against public justice in which Ridenour allegedly prevented or dissuaded a person from producing evidence by threat, force, or intimidation with the intent to obstruct law enforcement or the course of justice.
On count #2, Ridenour allegedly committed gross lewdness on July 8, 2019. According to NRS Statute, gross lewdness is defined as a person that makes any open and indecent or obscene exposure of his or her person, or of the person of another, a gross misdemeanor.
Finally, Ridenour’s third charge states that he allegedly committed simple battery which is defined as willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon another person. As no aggravating factors were listed, the offense is categorized as a gross misdemeanor punishable up to 364 days in the county jail.
Ridenour entered a plea of not guilty on Count #3, simple battery. He will enter pleas on the remaining two charges at his next court appearance.
Sloan requested the court release Ridenour on his own recognizance (OR), stating that he currently has no income and cannot afford bail and currently facing federal criminal charges in the US District Court in Reno. “He presents no danger to the community,” Sloan stated, “And there is no danger of him leaving.”
Judge Trotter granted the OR release and informed Ridenour of the conditions of his release. He scheduled to appear for a status hearing on June 25th.
In July of 2013, Dr. Ridenour was found guilty in District Court of weapons charges and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service. In June of 1994, his medical license was revoked by the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners.
However, under a stay, he was placed on probation for five years and ordered to complete a prescribing course, complete a six-month course in medical ethics, perform 40 hours of drug abuse public service, not prescribe Schedule I, II, and III drugs, and submit to the Board a monthly log of all Schedule IV and V controlled substances he prescribes. He was also ordered to submit to random samplings of body fluids collected by the Board, reimburse the Board the costs of the investigation and prosecution, pay a $1,000 fine, and receive a public written reprimand.
