Morrison announced that the Commissary remains open for all patrons with normal hours, as well as the Navy Exchange. Lincoln Military Housing playgrounds, dog parks, and splash parks will open today, as well as the bowling alley on every other lane basis. He said the CPO Club will open Thursday as will Silver State with a soft opening on Wednesday. Executive Officer Chastain assured the community that the base is well stocked with sanitary supplies to implement the opening. Both he and Captain Morrison remind personnel that there may be situations during the process that require leadership to pull back some of the openings, and they encouraged everyone to avoid large crowds.
Token Barnhouse who manages Morale, Welfare, and Recreation mentioned that his department is hiring for many of their positions and those announcements can be found on the website at: https://fallon.navylifesw.com/about/jobs
Chastain said “there are some countries that have taken advantage of the situation during this world-wide pandemic and it doesn’t take genius to figure out that our navy is going to be tested soon. I’m stoked to know that we’re here to support our fleet to make sure we have the most razor-sharp spear to send over the horizon and I’m thankful for all the folks out there every day who make sure we can do that.”
“We have a lot of outside units that come into to train,” said Morrison. “We want to make sure we are keeping the community safe. Our most critical assets are our people.”
