Fallon, Nv. -- The appointment of Sean Richardson to replace Gary Cordes as clerk/treasurer for the City of Fallon was approved by the Fallon City Council at its April 6th meeting.
Cordes will be retiring from his position this year after 30 years of service with the City of Fallon. His last day will be April 30.
Richardson moved with his family to the Oasis of Nevada when his father was stationed at NAS Fallon as active duty military. Along with his older brother and younger sister, he graduated from Churchill County High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Carroll College in Helena, Montana.
Returning to Nevada after college, Richardson served as a Certified Public Accountant with experience in public, private and governmental accounting. His employment included auditing work for the City of Fallon early in his career and seven years with the comptroller and finance offices of Churchill County and the Churchill County School District (CCSD). In addition, he spent 14 years in private industry with 13 of them as controller for Fallon Ford Toyota.
Married to Michelle, a CCSD teacher, Richardson and his wife have three children: Maxton, Camden and Miya.
According to documents submitted at the April 6th meeting of the city council, “Sean’s knowledge, education and experience, and especially his prior governmental accounting experience, will make him a great City Clerk-Treasurer.”
Council members also approved Richardson’s annual salary as City Clerk/Treasurer to be $120,000.00.
The salary was based upon the city’s completed salary survey of similar positions and its consideration of the job duties and responsibilities as well as education, skill set and professional licensure necessary to successfully perform the functions of City Clerk-Treasurer.
