April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

Today, April 3rd, is “Go Blue Day” with community members wearing blue to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse

Over 400 child abuse cases were reported in Churchill County during 2019.

The City of Fallon and Churchill County leadership made their official proclamations this week to support the Churchill County Social Services office and director Shannon Ernst with her staff in their work with agencies and organizations throughout the community to support positive families and healthy relationships.

The social services staff will post their traditional Pinwheels of Prevention display at Millennium Park at the corner of Maine Street and Williams Avenue, and continue with a media campaign throughout the month to build awareness about child abuse and the resources available for prevention here in Churchill County.

Mayor Ken Tedford released a video in support of the effort and can be seen here: Mayor Tedford City Proclamation. County Commission Chairman Pete Olsen read the county proclamation into the record at the commission meeting yesterday.
