- 03/13/2020 06:18 PM (update 04/11/2023 01:52 AM)
Statement provided by the Churchill County School District --
After meeting with the state’s other superintendents, Churchill County School District will join with the other 16 districts in the state to continue evaluating and responding to the evolving nature of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will also continue with a coalition of partners, including local health officials, Nevada Department of Education, Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA), and other agencies, on a cohesive response to protect the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. It is important to remember that, at this time, most Nevada residents are
at low risk of contracting coronavirus.
For the moment, there are no planned school closures. However, we continue to engage with the Nevada Department of Education and to seek guidance on closure if necessary. At this time, individual school districts remain open and are committed to educating our children to provide a sense of stability for our students, employees, and families.
All districts in the state, out of an abundance of caution and in an attempt to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, will use the following expectations:
● All school, district, and non-district sponsored athletics, extra-curricular activities, assemblies, practices, and events are suspended effective Monday, March 16, 2020, until further notice. Coaches and sponsors will make contact with current participants on Monday.
