Joan Sands – Local Hypnotist performs at Festival

Joan Sands – Local Hypnotist performs at Festival
by Rachel Dahl -- Joan Sands is a local massage therapist and hypnotherapist who last year took to the stage at the Cantaloupe Festival in her first performance of stage hypnosis. “My dad was a professional magician and did hypnosis and years later my brother, also a magician, decided he was going to do stage hypnosis,” she said. “I wasn’t a performer and had no use for hypnosis, but years later, when I was living in Portland, I discovered a hypnosis school next to me.” She called her brother and asked him about hypnosis and if she should take the courses. “He said yes,” said Sands, “yes, you can help so many people.” From that point she accompanied her brother to several shows, and he started teaching her stage performance. The rest, they say, is history. “I liked it and it’s a lot of fun,” she said, “it’s not me, it’s the people who are getting hypnotized who are actually the show.” According to Sands, everyone can be hypnotized, but not everyone will be very animated, and not everyone tells their deepest darkest secrets. “You only need one person to make an entire show.” Sands offers hypnotherapy at her office by appointment, and will work with clients to break habits, overcome fear of any number of things, weight loss, addictions such as cigarettes or sugar. She can be reached for an appointment by calling 775-217-9740. Joan’s hypnosis performance will be held on opening night, August 23rd, at 7:00 p.m., and she will offer only that one performance during the Festival.       Never miss the local news -- read more on The Fallon Post home page.
