County construction projects continue

County construction projects continue
Submitted courtesy of Churchill County -- Chip sealing; wastewater consolidation underway in various locations, expect some occasional road delays. Churchill County has several construction projects ongoing this month that may affect residents driving in the area: Chip sealing Churchill County’s Road Department will continue maintenance on county roads next week with another round of chip sealing activity: July 29 – Gummow and Soda Lake Roads July 30 – Allen Road between Franklin Street and St. Clair July 31 – Fog sealing activity on the roads mentioned above to finish the process. Residents are asked to avoid these areas if possible and to expect slight delays if they can’t. Sewer consolidation on Lattin Road A&K Earthmovers is working to consolidate the sewer system along Lattin Road and connect 25 properties to the county wastewater system. Construction of new individual sewer connections on the southern part of Lattin Road, and Dallas Drive, has begun. Slight disruptions of sewer service will occur as residents are connected to county wastewater system, but individual residents will be notified prior to expected disruption periods. A&K will follow Nevada Division of Environmental Protection regulations regarding individual residential septic systems being abandoned in place by pumping out septic tanks, crushing them, filling them with sand and replacing dirt over the top to return the area to its natural grade. For the current phase of work, there will be intermittent road blockages and traffic rerouting on the north part of Lattin Road as A&K lays the new sewer main under the road. While delays will be as short as possible, some access to driveways may be temporarily restricted. Affected property owners are being advised of any restrictions prior to implementation. Re-paving the upper part of Lattin Road is scheduled for July 31 with a final clean up in early August. Sewer upgrades at golf course Fisher Excavation is out at the Fallon Golf Course hooking it up to the county-owned wastewater system. New pumps are being installed in the old septic tank and piping laid underground to pump the sludge 2,200 feet from the tank to the wastewater access under Rice Road, just north of the golf course. By closing this large, commercial septic system, the county will benefit from significant water quality improvements for both the municipal well and private wells in the surrounding area. Work is expected to be completed by early August.       Never miss a meeting or community event – keep an eye on the community calendar at https://www.thefallonpost.org/events/ If you like what we’re doing, please support our effort to provide local, independent news and contribute to The Fallon Post, your online news source for all things Fallon.
