Dear Mayor and City Council,

Dear Mayor and City Council,

I wanted to ask for reconsideration of the 15 mph 24/7 speed limit on Venturacci between Keddie and D Street. I frequently travel this road to visit family.

I realize with the new Oasis High School that this merits speed limit considerations, but it should not be 24 hours, seven days a week.

Please take into consideration the following:

  1. It is a High School, not a grade school. Kids that age walking to school should have a clue.
  2. The Churchill County High School on Sheckler is normally 40 mph and yet the school limit is 25 mph only when flashing (from about 7:30 to 8:30 and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
  3. Venturacci is becoming a major thoroughfare due to the Coleman Road Bridge, and it is only going to get worse as housing increases on the north side of Coleman.

I would greatly appreciate reconsideration of this one block limit to only restrict speed during school hours.

Thank you for your discussion and further reconsideration of this issue.

Sincerely,

Dale White

There is also a skate park, play park, Boy's and girls youth center, and a pre-k school there which all make sense to have a 15mph zone seem more than reasonable in this location

The approximate distance from Keddie to D Street is 1000 feet. A reduction of 10 mph means you are adding a grand total of 1 minute and 8 seconds to your travel time in each direction. That must be a significant inconvenience for you.
