Karla Kent Wins City Council Seat

Karla Kent Wins City Council Seat
Karla Kent defeated Jack Beach in the municipal election Tuesday, and will represent Ward 2 on the Fallon City Council for the next four years, replacing Robert Erickson who hits his term limit this year. Kent is a small business owner, taking the reins of her family business, Kent's Supply Center and following in the footsteps of her father, and grandfather. Beach is a retired educator and life-long resident of Fallon. "Quite a few people came out today and exercised their civic duty to elect a new council representative," said Gary Cordes, City Clerk. "We've also had a great crew of volunteers helping, who have been here most of the day." There were a total of 246 votes cast, with Beach receiving 80 and Kent garnering 164. There were 2 absentee votes that were "spoiled" and did not count. Of those votes cast, 55 were absentee, 99 votes came in during early voting, and 92 on election day. There are a total of 1,642 registered voters in Ward 2 which is located in the City of Fallon generally south of Williams Avenue and west of Maine Street.
Results are unofficial and will be certified on Monday at the City Council meeting at 9am.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
