Obituary -- Katherine S. Taylor
Katherine Taylor

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Katherine S. Taylor, 92 years old, of Fallon Nevada, was called home by the Lord on August 4, 2023. She passed comfortably at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nevada surrounded by her loved ones.

Katherine was born December 8, 1930, in Oakland California to Samuel and Coula Scontriano, both emigrants from Greece. She lived in Oakland with her older brother John and sister Constance until age 8 when she went to Greece where she lived with her Thia Matina until 1948 when she returned home to the United States. At age 18, she began working for the United States Naval Department as a secretary. She met her late husband Fred at the Oaknoll Naval Hospital where they both worked until their retirement day when they walked out together hand and hand.

In 1992, after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and the Oakland Firestorm of 1991, Katherine and Fred moved to Henderson, Nevada where they made wonderful friends and hosted elegant dinner parties and festive barbeques in their backyard. After Fred’s passing in 2009, Katherine remained in their home until 2015 when she moved to Fallon Nevada to be closer to her family.

Katherine was a warm and loving woman with a real zest for life. She loved to sing and dance. She will be deeply missed by family and friends but will live on in the hearts and souls of her daughters, Kim Patton (Citrus Heights, Ca), Heide Antonescu (El Dorado Hills, Ca), and Jeanine Peters (Fallon, NV). She leaves behind her daughters, six grandchildren Souren Avanessian, Evan Chapman, Spencer Chapman, Joseph F. Peters, Katherine Peters, Jessica Peters, and four great-grandchildren Colten Peters, Kenna Peters, Sophia Avanessian, and Thomas Chapman.

Services will be held on August 29th at 11:00 am at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave, Oakland, CA 94602. Family and friends are welcome. She will be joined with her late husband Fred in a private ceremony at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City which will be her final resting place.

People are saying he is not the same man, this proves he is, he would have been open and honest if he wasn’t the same man. He judged others for their past, but wants to hide his. He knew he was ineligible to be a cop, he still ran. He DOES NOT HAVE 20 years of public safety experience. He has less than 2 years as a cop almost 20 years ago and then never worked in public safety again. Cal Trans is not public safety. The people that voted for him are too blind to see that he can’t be a cop, it doesn’t matter the man he is now, the laws are very clear.Comment publication date: 4/4/25, 2:31 AMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: BDHComment text: Did he while serving have a firearm on him after this conviction and was he prohibited from carrying one?Comment publication date: 4/2/25, 3:32 PMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: Ryan from EsmeraldaComment text: Great story.
