Obituary -- Edward Noel Phillips
Edward Phillips

Edward Noel Phillips (70) passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at his Fallon, Nevada home on August 5, 2023. Edward was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Edward was born on August 3, 1953, in Fallon, Nevada, to his parents Edward Hyrum Phillips and Florence Emma Rescorl.

When he was 18 years old,  Edward decided to join the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and went on to serve in the Vietnam War with some of the bravest men he knew.  After returning from Vietnam he met and fell for Theresa Anne Defilippi, whom he married in 1978.  In 1987 the two relocated with their three children to Sitka, Alaska.

After moving to Sitka, Edward started working at the Sitka Pulp Mill until its closure in 1993. Edward went on to work for Teck Alaska Incorporated at Red Dog Mine. When he wasn’t working, Edward had a passion for acting, singing, woodworking, shooting, and the outdoors.  He was a proud Mason and an active member of the Episcopal Church.

Edward was predeceased in death by his father, Edward H. Phillips, mother, Florence Mullen, and sister, Florence “Flossy” Chilson. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Theresa; his children:  E. Michael Phillips, Maria (Radek) Stejskal, and Elizabeth Lesueur-Phillips; his brother Newton Phillips; his sister Harriet Frohlich-Fry; his mother-in-law Margaret A. Defilippi; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his little pride and joy, granddaughter Ava Stejskal (5).

People are saying he is not the same man, this proves he is, he would have been open and honest if he wasn’t the same man. He judged others for their past, but wants to hide his. He knew he was ineligible to be a cop, he still ran. He DOES NOT HAVE 20 years of public safety experience. He has less than 2 years as a cop almost 20 years ago and then never worked in public safety again. Cal Trans is not public safety. The people that voted for him are too blind to see that he can’t be a cop, it doesn’t matter the man he is now, the laws are very clear.Comment publication date: 4/4/25, 2:31 AMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: BDHComment text: Did he while serving have a firearm on him after this conviction and was he prohibited from carrying one?Comment publication date: 4/2/25, 3:32 PMComment source: Nevada Supreme Court Orders Removal of Esmeralda County Sheriff Nick DonderoComment author: Ryan from EsmeraldaComment text: Great story.
