CCHS Panel Discussion

CCHS Panel Discussion
by Leanna Lehman -- Graduation is quickly approaching for the 2019 CCHS Seniors. As part of a preparation series for these newly liberated students, eight former CCHS graduates came to speak with seniors in Ms. Monica Fairbanks’ English IV classes on Monday, May 20th. The panel of graduates represented a mix of students in online and traditional community colleges, universities, and those that have forged their way into the workforce. “Life after High School” was the focus of the discussion.  Former graduates Alexis Duenas, Ally Fulk, Marly Green, Abbi Hayden, Cameron Kissick, Sage Orozco, Kaelehn Nemeth, and Ayanna Rooks answered questions and encouraged students during their last days as high school seniors. The fun, informal setting, allowed the graduates an opportunity to share their experiences and some of the life lessons they have learned on their journey into adulthood. The discussion covered school versus work plans, preparing for college, being away from home for the first time, and even about making good roommates choices. Balancing school and money proved to be an important topic as graduates shared some of the financial challenges that they had to overcome including the high cost of fees, textbooks, living expenses while trying to balance work and classes. This year’s seniors were able to ask personal questions, express concerns, and share their own future plans. The Fallon Post heartily applauds the former CCHS graduates not only for what they have accomplished but for sharing their time with this year’s seniors. As for the class of 2020, “Now go, and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here.” – Neil Gaiman   Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon.
