“Where else can you see eight comics for $20?” asked comedian Brian Lee who will perform tonight at the Fallon Convention Center in the “Barracks Bash Comedy After Party” to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
Lee is a professional comic who has been performing all over the world for nearly 20 years. He served in the army as a cavalry scout and then in the navy as a yeoman legal assistant. Living in Reno currently, he performs tonight with seven other comedians in a fundraiser for Fallon veterans and seniors in need.
When he was in the navy, Lee had a friend whose goal was to be a comic. Lee would write material for him and was encouraged to give standup a try. One night at an open mike event with Gary Mann (who worked with Flip Wilson) hosting, Lee performed and as they say, the rest is history.
He begins his act with scripted set material and works into a routine with heavy audience interaction, and he ends each act with a game show – pulling people out of the audience to participate.
“This stands to be the biggest comedy fundraiser in northern Nevada,” said Lee who is bringing in his friends from across the country to perform with him tonight. “Michael is from Winnemucca originally, Paul is from California, and Luke from Chicago.”
The show will be held at the Fallon Convention center, which seats 250 people. There are still some tickets available by contacting Lucy Carnahan at 217-6076, or they can be purchased at the door for $20, if they are not sold out.
“In Reno you would pay double that with a two-drink minimum,” said Lee, “and you would only see three comics – this will be a great show for a great cause.”
The show begins at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 18th.
