Haley Ann Riebel appeared for arraignment. Public Defender Wright Noel told the court he cannot represent Riebel due to a conflict, as he represents the person who was in the car with the defendant. Judge Stockard continued the case to February 28.
Sergio Bravo pled guilty to Attempt to Possess a Stolen Motor Vehicle which is a “wobbler,” as it can be sentenced as a Gross Misdemeanor or as a Category E Felony. ADA Chelsea Sanford requested this be sentenced as a Category E Felony as the defendant was already in the drug court program when he committed this offense. PD Noel asked that the offense be sentenced as a Gross Misdemeanor and grant the defendant the privilege of probation and allow him to complete diversion. The judge sentenced the offense as a Category E Felony, imposing a sentence of 12-36 months in Nevada State Prison, suspended. Bravo was placed on probation for 24 months with the condition that he completes the Western Regional Drug Court program. Other standard conditions of probation were imposed.
David Flores-Saucedo pled guilty to a Gross Misdemeanor charge of Unlawful Possess, Sell, Offer to Sell, Transfer, Transport, or Receive a Firearm without a serial number 1st offense. Sentencing was set for February 28 to allow time for victim notification.
Becky Lee Hadley pled guilty to a Category E Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) 1st or 2nd offense, which carries a possible penalty of 1-4 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $5,000. PD Noel stated that the defendant has completed a substance abuse evaluation, and the defense is asking for diversion. The defendant was provisionally admitted to the Western Nevada Regional Drug Court and will be supervised by Court Services. Sentencing was set for March 7.
Evelyn Gissell Diaz-Dirico failed to appear for arraignment. A Bench Warrant was issued.
Public Defender Charles Woodman appeared via Zoom due to illness. He had three cases before the court today. They were arraignments for Michael Eugene Haynes and for Shelley Leanne Sonafrank and a sentencing violation for Amado Leonel Olvera-Perez. The three cases were continued due to Woodman’s health.
Nathaniel Belingheri appeared for sentencing on 3 Category B Felonies: 1) Being in Possession of a Firearm or Deadly Weapon, 2) Grand Larceny of a Firearm, and 3) Ex-Felon Not to Possess a Firearm. He received 48-144 months on the possession charge, 36-110 months for the grand larceny, and 24-60 months on the ex-felon charge. The sentences are to run consecutively for an aggregate sentence of 108-314 months in Nevada State Prison. All three sentences were suspended and the defendant was placed on probation for three years. The judge stated, “Any violation will be taken very seriously by this court.” Conditions of probation include getting a substance abuse evaluation and following the recommendations of the evaluation and having no contact with the co-defendants. Regarding the co-defendant Belingheri is married to, the judge said contact is at the discretion of probation, they will start with being allowed to stay together but if there is misbehavior P&P can enforce the no contact. Restitution in the amount of $2,400 in the amount of $100 a month was ordered. Belingheri was ordered to maintain full-time employment. Other standard conditions of probation were imposed.
Henry Allen Camacho, in custody, pled guilty to Category B Felony of Robbery, which carries a potential penalty of 2-15 years in Nevada State Prison. A Pre-sentence Investigative Report was ordered, sentencing was set for May 9.
Kyle Johnathon Cuthill, in custody, appeared for sentencing. PD Jacob Sommer explained that this morning he received documents from the defendant’s mother which cause Sommer to have a “good faith and rational basis upon which I must ask this court to order an evaluation for competency.” The judge suspended proceedings to allow for a competency evaluation.
Matthew Lloyd Grissom, in custody, admitted to a non-technical probation violation involving a DUI. Following arguments, the judge revoked Grissom’s probation, modifying the sentence to concurrent rather than consecutive. Grissom was remanded to the custody of the sheriff for imposition of sentence.
Marcos DeSantiago-Olvera, in custody, admitted to a non-technical probation violation involving a battery. Probation was revoked and the underlying sentence was imposed. DeSantiago-Olvera was remanded to the custody of the sheriff for imposition of sentence.
Brandon Heleodoro Rodriguez-Sigala, in custody, appeared for various non-technical probation violations. Several videos were found on the defendant’s phone, including a video of him committing a battery. PD Sommer stated he has not seen the videos; therefore, he is asking for an Evidentiary Hearing. As the evidence is currently the property of the Reno Gang Unit, it will take about a month to obtain it. An Evidentiary Hearing was set for Thursday, April 6 and the judge entered a denial.
Christy Lynn Mullins, in custody, appeared for an arraignment, and for a non-technical probation violation. She pled guilty to the Category D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd offense which carries a possible penalty of 1-4 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $20,000. Mullins admitted to the non-technical probation violation involving using a controlled substance. Under the plea agreement, ADA Sanford said the state will remain silent. Sommer stated the defendant knows she made a terrible mistake. She has reached out to Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission and has a bed date of February 28. Mullins told the court, “I’m an addict ... I desperately want help.” On the Category D Felony, Mullins was sentenced to 15-46 months in Nevada State Prison, which will run consecutive to her previous sentences. The sentence was suspended. The judge reinstated Mullins on probation with the condition that she is to remain in custody until her bed date, at which time she will enter and complete the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission program. Other standard conditions of probation were ordered.
