You can follow the National Pony Express Re-Ride as the riders carry the mail 1,900 miles from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California, arriving in Cold Springs, Nevada this afternoon June 14, around 5 p.m. There is a tracker in the mochila that the rider carries, transferred from pony to pony showing an update on a map every five minutes. Riders kicked off the annual event on June 6, with members of the National Pony Express Association recreating the Pony Express in a Commemorative Re-Ride over a 10-day period. Letters are carried in a mochila over the original trail, which stretches across eight states. Over 750 riders take turns in the 24 hours a day event that will deliver the 1,000 letters that are mailed each year.
Dispatches from the trail are posted on the Pony Express website and can be seen here: https://nationalponyexpress.org/report/story-2022-06-13_134823/
