The theme of this year’s summer reading program at the Churchill County Library is “Oceans of Possibilities.” While the program goal is to keep students reading all summer while school is out, helping to prevent the “summer slide,” there are things to do and books to read for everyone - from the youngest to the oldest members of our community.
On June 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Churchill Library Association is sponsoring a Kickoff Carnival. The entire community is invited to come enjoy games, prizes, food, a cake raffle, and have lots of fun. The carnival is being held in the lot to the north of the library on Maine Street. While you are there be sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Program.
Don’t forget to add a sea creature to the Oceans of Possibilities at the Information Desk every time you check out books.
On July 13, come in and watch juggler Izzy Tooinsky perform at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Want to learn how to juggle? Izzy will be holding a Juggling Workshop at 1 p.m.
On July 26, at 10 a.m., “The Young Shakes” will entertain with a special performance from the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival folks at Sand Harbor.
Storytime with Miss Jes is every Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. and it’s ever so much more than listening to stories - though that’s always fun, too. There will be projects to do, along with singing and dancing to enjoy.
Drop by the library every week to show us your reading log and choose a brag tag, as well as a book to keep for your very own.
