Obituary -- Troy Nance
Troy Nance

Troy Nance passed away at his home on February 7, 2022, surrounded by love.

He was born in Ripley, Mississippi on November 20, 1948, to Betty Bateman Nance and Mack ”Leon” Nance. He was one of nine children.

Troy was a fierce protector of the family he loved. He enjoyed fishing, boating, laughing, hard work, and his dogs. But most of all, spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings; Pat, Doy, Billy, Steve, and Ruth Card; and his daughter Robin Nance.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Cheryl; his step-children Alex Hettinger (TJ); Lea Pope (Chris); children, Chris Nance and Jody Wreyford; siblings, Marie Moring, Brenda Burns, twin brother, Roy Nance; grandchildren, Katie, Rylee, Charlie, Chad, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Troy’s request, there will be no services. At a later date, we will celebrate his life.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway Fallon, NV 89406, phone 775 423-8928.

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon ManComment author: Pam BitschenauerComment text: Ken, thank you for your kind words about Scott our "Mellon Man". My husband and I used to visit with Scott quite often when we lived in Fallon and then whenever we had the chance to as we passed through town. He was truly a good person and will be sorely missed.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 3:15 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
