Captain’s Log – Too Much News is a Real Thing

Captain’s Log – Too Much News is a Real Thing

I’ve been watching too much news. It started with the COVID – when I got sick and could only lay around under the humidifier. TV is not my thing. I don’t have cable or anything like that. I actually only got a new TV about a month ago after I moved to my new house. I didn’t have one before. Sloan took it with her when she moved out because she watched it and I don’t, so I wouldn’t even miss it.

Well, I do love to watch college football so I have had Hulu so I could watch games on my iPad.

At any rate, I got a TV when I moved into the new house and got it all hung up on the wall, only a little crooked. And there it sat. A lovely black rectangle decorating the living room.

So, as I languished in my virus, hotboxing the living room with Vicks and Nyquil, I figured out the remote and got a little addicted to the tube.

Do you know how much news is available all day every day??? It’s a news junkie’s heaven. It’s also not good for your blood pressure so I’m glad that wasn’t a COVID indicator. I tend to get a little animated in my news consumption.

There are also the old standby shows to watch as well. When I was pregnant with Sloan, I got addicted to NCIS. They still have that. And Criminal Minds. There is a show I used to watch on YouTube that my son turned me into when he was in college. It was just these little, funny skits about a bunch of kids growing up in a rural Canadian town. Nowadays they’ve become famous and are in season 10 of real-live shows. It’s a hoot, but not something a grown woman who has become a gramma should admit to watching. To be fair.

But the best thing I found, binge-watched, and now am watching again, is this adorable little show called Ghosts. It is so dang sweet. The characters are so fun, and you just fall in love with each one of them. It’s my favorite. You have to watch it. CBS, Thursdays at 9 p.m. But I binge it on Hulu.

Oh, dear! I think I just found seven new episodes of Season Two. While I figure out how I’m going to watch those this weekend, I’ll be right here…

…keeping you Posted.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
