Obituary -- Susan Marie Jurgens

Obituary -- Susan Marie Jurgens
Susan Jurgens

Susan Marie Jurgens (Loebel), 65, was born in Torrance, Ca on March 4, 1956. She passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2022, with her family by her side.

Though Susan’s health was declining for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her love for others and fighting spirit kept her pushing through the pain and illnesses. She was as stubborn as they come, not wanting to burden others with her pain or sorrows. In her attempts to protect those around her, she inadvertently isolated herself in her final years from her closest family and friends, an emotional burden that was a heavy load to bear on top of her conditions.

Known by her family and friends as “Sue”, she was full of love and kindness, incredibly intelligent, and would give anything for a friend or family member in need. Her love for music will always be something her loved ones can turn to for comfort; Sue loved her rock and roll! Her seven grandchildren meant the world to her and would always bring a smile to her face. She had several interests and hobbies: loved to sunbathe, play Jeopardy at 7 pm sharp, “therapy shop” online or on QVC, root for her Cleveland Browns win or lose, and would try to attend any and all festivals that came to town. Sue waitressed most of her life and treated every guest as if they were family visiting for a home-cooked meal, always up for a small chat and a filled beverage. She was proud of her service and her regular customers who would ask for her by name. Truly believing in the good in people, she was deeply compassionate and kind and tried to always find a way to look past the mistakes and faults of others. In the words of one of her favorite artists, John Lennon, “All you need is love;" lyrics she would sing out proudly and passionately. If you knew Sue, you knew she loved her music and connecting with family and friends; a love so contagious you couldn’t help but smile being around her when her tunes were on and her spirits lifted.

Susan is survived by her children, son and daughter (twins) Robert and Jessica; two granddaughters Alexis and Winnie; and five grandsons Justin, Matteus, Emerson, Bradley, and Tanner. Besides her children and grandchildren, Susan is also survived by her sisters, Linda and Shirley; two nieces, Natalie and Christy; three nephews, Chris, James, and Richard; and also many loving extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve “Honey” Jurgens; both of her parents, Helen and Richard; her two brothers, Robert and Richard; and her sister Laura.

Susan preferred not to have a funeral service and instead wanted anyone who knew her to celebrate her life, not grieve the loss of her, by gathering with friends and family, having drinks, and sharing happy memories into the midnight hour with the promise she would be there in our hearts celebrating right along with us.

There was a man in Susans life that left a great impression on her life. The names of her children everyone can see, but there was no mention of the twins last name. I am Andrew Gregson Chapman the father of Robert william Chapman and Jessica Dawn Chapman. They were born with me by Susan side at The University of Utan Medical Center Hospital with me holding her hand, and their Great Grandmother the attending nurse in Salt Lake City, Utah where I live now. They said that they were the healthiest naturally born twins that have ever seen. I loved Susan very much. I never stopped loving her. I still love her today, and always and forever I will love her. I just want everyone who knows anything about me to know. and let all the people who dont know me know who I am. God be with you always, Amen
