Anyone with an interest in history and firearms, specifically the Springfield rifle, is invited to attend the Churchill County Museum’s spring luncheon on Saturday, March 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the museum.

Speaker Michel Scherschel will present “Blast From The Past: The Springfield Trapdoor Rifle and the Cartridge Revolution” and lunch will be catered by the Maine Street Café. A raffle will also take place during the luncheon.

California-native Scherschel moved to Reno, Nevada as a child and graduated from Wooster High School before entering the Air Force in December 1970. He retired as an Air Force medic with 20+ years of service. He attended Lassen Community college and earned his associate’s degree as a gunsmith. He comes from a family of hunters who are all avid firearms enthusiasts. From a very early age, he became interested in the history of firearms, particularly western firearms. While he has worked with many modern firearms, his primary focus has always been on early black powder cartridge firearms.

Tickets are $35 each or $250 for a table of eight. Please contact the Museum at (775)423-3677 to reserve your tickets.
